Shri Nathji made a brief visit to Shillong in 1937 at the calling of devotees there. When Shri Nathji was in Shillong, he met Shri Kasinath Saikia, an M.L.C., a member of the Legislative Council of the State. The man became greatly devoted to Shri Nathji.
There was an occasion when he took Shri Nathji to Cherrapunji in his car. At the time, a large number of cars were proceeding to Cherrapunji, but Shri Nathji chose the car of Kasinath Saikia.
As Shri Nathji entered the car, the singular thought came to his mind that the car would go over a cliff in the mountainous regions.
I am an expert driver, said Kasinath Saikia with some pride, I have driven in Europe and England for years!
As the car went along the mountain road, Kasinath Saikia boasted more and more of his driving skill. The driving was downhill.
Suddenly, he made an error around a curve and the car went over the edge of the road. It fell some feet and landed upright on a small ledge below.
Shri Nathji had an injured tooth. Kasinath Saikia was unhurt.
Never in my life have I had an accident before!  said a distraught Kasinath Saikia, O Nathji! Why did you have to receive this injury when you were with me!
And Shri Nathji said: So that you would receive no injury when you were with me! Kasinathji! This is the price we have had to pay for your pride! No matter how adept a man may become at anything, pride must never enter his heart.
In later life, Shri Nathji eventually lost the tooth he had injured in the accident. The missing tooth would always remind him of his devotee, Kasinath Saikia, and he would send his blessings to the man.
Kasinath Saikia published Shri Nathji’s pamphlet Inspired Epistle at Shillong and never tired of speaking of the Divine Grace of Shri Nathji and his blessings upon him, long after Shri Nathji had left Shillong.
