As the summer of 1972 had come upon Delhi, Priya Nath had wished to take Shri Nathji to Naini Tal, since the atmosphere at Mussoorie was still vitiated by the forces of evil. Sahadeva Tayal had come from Hissar to live with Shri Nathji for a while.
Shri Nathji had last been in Naini Tal in the year 1942. He had gone there from Allahabad in the month of June 1942, and his arm trouble had intensified in the damp climate of Naini Tal. In August 1942 he had to leave Mateshwari and the children behind at Naini Tal and go down for medical treatment to Lucknow. It had not been a very happy association with Naini Tal in 1942 for Shri Nathji.
When Shri Nathji had last been to Naini Tal in 1942, Priya Nath had been only nine months old. Thirty years had elapsed since then.
Shri Nathji had often told Priya Nath how he had seen all the hill stations in India and had then selected Mussoorie as the best one. Priya Nath had often said that he had seen only Mussoorie. And it was thus decided that they go to Naini Tal for a change.
At the start of June 1972, Shri Nathji, Priya Nath, and Sahadeva, went to Naini Tal in the car offered by Shri Bhandari. The trip was a dangerous one. The driver almost had a serious car accident along the way.Priya Nath had noticed the car wandering towards an oncoming truck, and had instantly sensed that the driver of the car had fallen asleep. He let out a loud exclamation that awakened the driver and averted the accident! Shri Nathji had always referred to Priya Nath as “mushkil kushaa”–“one who averted difficulties”.
