While Shri Nathji was at Shadi Bhavan he had begun to search for a house of his own at Mussoorie. The decision was made after the children, Pran Nath and Priya Nath, had been admitted to Lower Kinder Garden at Hampton Court, Convent of Jesus and Mary, situated on the Mall.
Mateshwari too desired that the children receive their education at Mussoorie. Ram Ratan Khanna had strongly advised Shri Nathji and Mateshwari to give the children a western education at Mussoorie in the good schools available there.
Mateshwari could not acquiesce to living permanently at Dehra Dun because of Prem Nath and his in-laws, and therefore a place at Mussoorie had become a necessity.
Shri Nathji had at first thought of purchasing a house at Camel’s Back Road itself. The house was situated opposite a certain Nand Villa there. The owner had become very fond of Shri Nathji and had wished to sell the house to him at a reasonable price. Shri Nathji had, in February 1946, written to his devotee, Shri Devki Nandan, from Dehra Dun, telling him of his intention to purchase a house at Mussoorie. The Kasera brothers who had been with Shri Nathji through very difficult times had now become prosperous cloth merchants at Hathras.
In April 1946 Shri Nathji had taken Shri Bhutt with him to Mussoorie for that very purpose. However Shri Nathji did not buy the house as it was not destined to be the place which could boast of God, Himself, as its owner. As the months passed by the search for a house continued.
Shri Nathji was even interested in another house at Camel’s Back Road, which was “Kuchesar House” a double-storeyed and fully furnished house situated in good surroundings with a nice compound, which was advertised by a certain Mohan Singh of Belvedere, Mussoorie. However Shri Nathji did not eventually buy the place.
