After the conclusion of the birthday function Shri Nathji met the Bhutt family alone. Once again his divine flow of words continued in an unending flow. It was a miracle that he could go on speaking for hours on end to even his old devotees who had heard him speak many a time. Every time they heard him it was as if they were listening to him for the first time. His storehouse of words was inexhaustible. He had truly said: “Main laakhon varshon tak bol saktaa hoon. I can go on speaking for millions of years.”
The subject of Jagdish came up. Mateshwari was of the opinion that Prem Pyaari was not a good match for him and that she would take him away from Shri Nathji. However, since Mrs. Bhutt did not appear to be convinced and wanted Shri Nathji to fulfil her wishes, Mateshwari was vexed with Gangabai Bhutt. Mrs. Bhutt had been constantly imposing her devotion on Shri Nathji and making his programmes without prior permission from him. Mateshwari had not forgotten what had happened at Harda and the manner in which Dandewali had endangered Shri Nathji’s life. Mateshwari felt that Gangabai Bhutt was taking too many liberties.
The meeting was very traumatic for the Bhutts as well as for Mateshwari. Shri Nathji had a soothing balm with him with which he could heal all manner of injured hearts. He spoke to the Bhutts softy and lovingly and placated their feelings.
Shri Nathji said: “If a devotee wishes to test his own faith and to see where he stands, then let him ask himself whether he has found his Master’s reprimand to be distasteful. If he has, then there is still ego within him.”

“Agar aapko apne Master ki koyi bhee baat buri lage, isskaa matlab aap men abhee bhee apnaa ahankaar baaki hai!”

“A devotee has only to realise that whatever his Master says is for his own betterment, and that even a reprimand was meant to elevate him spiritually.”

Shri Nathji would say: “How fortunate is the man who has found a tutor who points out his mistakes free of charge! You go to school and pay fees only to have your mistakes pointed out and corrected.
“Be happy that your Master is correcting your mistakes. If he did not correct them then the time will come when you would be left to the mercies of the world. To correct a mistake is to get rid of it.”

“Galti ko correct karne kaa matlab, galti ko nikaal denaa hai!

“If you have been writing ‘one plus one is equal to three’, and if I correct you, then you will start writing it as ‘one plus one is equal to two’ for the rest of your life.
“However if I do not correct you then you will go on writing ‘one plus one is equal to three’ and this mistake will become a part of you. In the end, the world will come forward to correct you! How much better, therefore, if you let your Master point out your mistakes, rather than be corrected by the world!”
Shri Nathji also said to Gangabai Bhutt, which was, in fact, a general edict for everyone on the spiritual path:

“It is not enough to have found God. You have also to attain his Divine Grace! Then again, it is not enough to attain His Divine Grace either. You must also retain it!

“Kewal Bhagwan ko paa lenaa hee kaafi naheen hai, unki kripaa ko bhee paanaa zaroori hai. Aur kripaa ko paa lenaa hee kaafi naheen, usse rakhnaa bhee zaroori hai!”

Shri Nathji explained: “Ravana also found God when he met Rama. But he turned against Rama. This was because he had not obtained the Divine Grace of Lord Rama.”
Shri Nathji had often said: “It has been my experience that whenever my Divine Grace goes out in abundance towards any devotee, that devotee, at that very instant, does something that causes the Divine Grace to return from him!”
Shri Nathji’s exact words in Hindi were:

“Maine kayi baar dekhaa hai ke jis vakt meri kripaa kissee bhakt kee or zyaadaa jaane lagtee hai, to vo ussee vakt koyi aisee baat kartaa hai jiss se saari kripaa vaapas aa jaati hai!”

Shri Nathji consoled the devotees with the words:
“The branches of a tree may be shaken by the wind, but they can never fall off the tree!

“Perr ki shaakhaayen havaa se hil sakti hain magar gir naheen sakteen!”

“In a like manner, a devotee’s faith may shake temporarily but it can never be uprooted from its foundation.”
“Faith is that which grips you. You cannot leave it. Your eyes see that the colour of a carpet is red, and you have faith in this fact. Yet it is not you who are believing that the carpet is red, it is the red colour of the carpet that is making you accept it as red!”
Shri Nathji added in a moment of divine forgiveness and love:

“Jisko Bhagwan ne denaa naheen hotaa usse dwaar naheen dikhaate
Aur jisse dwaar dikhaate hain usse phir khaali naheen bhejte

If God has not to give anyone, He will not show him His door,
And if He shows His door to anyone, He will not send him away empty!”

Shri Nathji also quoted Shri Babaji Bhagwan who used to say:

“Agar koyi bhoolaa bhatkaa Bhagwaan ke dwaar par aa jaaye to vo usse kahaan phenkenge!

If someone who has lost his way, strays to the door of God how can God cast him away!”
And it was thus that the Bhutts left Mussoorie, drenched completely in the Divine Love of Shri Nathji. They accepted the anger of Mateshwari as a divine reprimand and were happy that their mother had corrected them.
