Rana Hem Shamsher Jang Bahadur of the royal household of Nepal had great faith in Shri Nathji. There was a time when he visited Shri Nathji. As he left the verandah of Savitri Nivas, he was so overcome by emotion that he shed a tear at the doorstep. Shri Nathji never forgot that solitary tear-drop of the Rana and spoke of it years afterwards in his sermons.
“Ye aapkaa aansoo aaj moti ban gayaa hai!” said Shri Nathji, “This tear-drop of yours has become a pearl!”
The Rana said: “I am very unfortunate. Main barraa unfortunate hoon!”
He continued:  “Though I have secured your darshan, my family has been left bereft of your blessings.”
And Shri Nathji said: “Mere paas perfume thhee. Maine aapko lagaa dee. Jab aap ghar jaayenge to sab ko milegi!
“I have a perfume and I apply it to your clothes. When you go home all your family members will get the scent! In a like manner the blessings that you have obtained from me shall go along with you, and when you reach home they shall go to all your family members!”
Shri Nathji also used to say: “If I have caught one link of a chain, then I have caught all the links in the chain! If I have formed a relationship even with one person in your family, then I have indirectly formed a relationship with all the members of the family!”
“I have not come to separate you from your family and friends–I have come to add myself to your circle of relationships.”
