Shri Nathji’s stomach had always been a delicate one because of his long hours sitting and talking to people. Ram Rattan Khanna had always pleaded with Shri Nathji to take a long walk twice a day, but Shri Nathji had seldom found the time; at best he could walk once a day and even that had become infrequent over the years. The water at Mussoorie was hard and very difficult on the digestion so that most people in the city suffered from various stomach problems.
Shri Nathji had flatulence in his stomach on many occasions. The chemical factory of the stomach, of which he was the Creator, had floundered. That night at the Cosmopolitan Hotel, as Shri Nathji lay on his stomach in bed, the gastric juices inside his stomach churned within, and built up a huge gas bubble inside – which found release from Shri Nathji’s stomach in an astounding gust of wind, which was so powerful and so loud in its intensity that it appeared to shake the entire building, if not the entire city of Dehra Dun. Pran Nath and Priya Nath who were awake at the time never forgot that awesome sound, and always compared it to the sound of an explosion: “Boom”. It was God releasing his hurricane upon the earth. The boys had always thought that the earthquakes and storms arose in the world whenever God released a gust of wind, and this episode confirmed their belief.
Shri Nathji would laugh to the point of tears whenever the boys recounted this episode before him.
