In the month of May 1969, a messenger arrived at Mussoorie from Bhopal, carrying a letter from Shri G.P. Bhutt who was lying seriously ill in a Bhopal Hospital. Shri Bhutt sought permission to leave the world and to go to the feet of Mateshwari. Even as Shri Nathji’s eyes fell upon the letter, Ganesh Prasad Bhutt left for his heavenly abode. It was the 9th of May 1969. News of Bhutt’s passing away came in the front pages of the newspapers at Madhya Pradesh. Flags were lowered at half-mast as a mark of respect to the departed Chief Justice. His body was carried in a gun carriage and a military salute was give at the time of the funeral. “Prabhuji ko apne ghar kaa sab se nikat aur sab se priya sambandhi samjho, phir aapko unke liye kyaa karnaa hai aapkaa dil khud gavaahi degaa! “Look upon Prabhuji as your nearest and dearest loved one, then your own heart will tell you what you must do for him.Gangabai Bhutt was not saddened at the going of away of her husband, Shri Bhutt, and said: “Why should I be sad? He has gone on a promotion! I have seen him in a beautiful baikunth lok – heaven – where Mateshwari resides!”
