While at the hotel, Shri Nathji had a hankering for vegetable sandwiches. But it was late in the night and Priya Nath did not wish to leave Shri Nathji alone in the hotel room and go out to look for sandwiches. Just then the doorbell rang. When Priya Nath opened the door, he found Mr. Benjamin Mandel standing there. Mandel was a friend of Priya Nath who often thought of him as his own son and had played host to him in the days past. Priya Nath had phoned him from Watch Hill, Rhode Island, and had told him that he and Shri Nathji would be staying at the hotel at New York.
