Priya Nath was deeply touched by the friendliness and helpfulness of the Americans, and, most of all, their humility. He was surprised when the Chairman of the Physics Department stood up to greet him and then picked up a chair for him. No Head of the Department in an Indian University would have done as much for a student. The President of Harvard, Mr. Pusey, went around innocuously and humbly at a student’s get-together shaking the hands of the students and introducing himself with the brief words: “I am Pusey!” The professors and scientists were people dedicated entirely to their work, without the least bit of pride or ego in them. They were men with pure hearts.
