Even though the devotion of Ravi Bahl and Mrs. Bahl was above question, yet they were afraid that they too might be stopped from coming to the darbaar for Bahl’s mistake.“Prabhuji, kaheen Dandewali se naaraaz hokar mujhe bhee darbaar se naa nikaal denaa! Meraa direct bhee aapse sambandh hai!“Prabhuji, if you are ever angry with Dandewali, please do not throw me out of the darbaar also. Remember I have a direct relationship with you as well!”Indeed on the path of devotion it was each devotee for himself. The faithlessness of the husband could not detract from the faith of the wife, nor from the faith of the son.“You go to your office and sign the attendance register daily. But if one day you were to absent yourself, would your office allow your wife to work on your behalf? Would the school allow you to sit in the class of your children if they had absented themselves? In a like manner it is the devotion of each person that counts before God, not his relationship with anyone else.Bahl writes a letter of apology and sends it to Priya Nath forthwith. In the days that followed he was forgiven and both, he and his wife, were given re-admission to the darbaar. Shri Nathji and Priya Nath were never really angry with anyone and they soon forgot all about the episode. “Vaise hee naatak kar rahe thhe. Agar sach much men naaraaz hote to pralaiya ho jaati!Mrs. Chaudhri had once said to Priya Nath:“There was a time when you had been very angry with me and I thought you would never see me again, but the next moment your anger had gone and you were smiling! How could such anger have vanished in an instant! It is as if you had nothing in your mind! Indeed the incident revealed to me that it was not ordinary anger, but rather a divine wrath meant for my betterment. Worldly people harbour ill-feelings in their minds for years and rarely forget or forgive!”“Main to kissee ko sazaa naheen detaa. Main to apne shatruon kaa bhee buraa naheen chaahataa. Magar Karma ka“I never punish anyone. I never wish ill even upon my enemies, but the law of Karma must do its work! The stone cast upwards must come down and hit the man who cast it!”Shri Nathji had warned people with his Persian Verse:“Az mafaakaate amal ghaafil mashauBe not ignorant of the laws of Karma,Shri Nathji had frequently said in English:“You must reap what you sow, they say,As time progressed, the material prosperity that the Bahls had acquired soon came to an unholy end. Bholu had a severe car accident that rendered him an invalid. His business collapsed and his cars were sold. Bahl’s daughter-in law tormented the Bahls no end and made their lives miserable, and Bahl himself went into an incurable depression, the sins of the past haunting his mind, and the future holding no hope for him.
