The Ramayana TV serial is about to end. Shri Nathji and Priya Nath watch the death of Ravana at the hands of Rama. Shri Nathji explains to Priya Nath that there are several different versions of the Ramayana and not all that was shown in the serial was factually correct. Shri Nathji knew. He was Rama centuries ago. “Agar Ramji chaahate to ghar baitthe Ravana ko maar sake thhe, magar phir Ramayana naa banti!“If Lord Rama had wished he could have killed Ravana while sitting at home. But then no Ramayana would have been made!”Shri Nathji had disclosed in a rare moment that Rama had come to Kekayi as a child and had closed her eyes from behind, saying:“Mother, today I am closing your eyes. You will banish me from Ayodhya and a great epic will come from it, which will result in the salvation of many! I have to ask you to make this sacrifice for my sake! It is a great sacrifice, because you will be defamed in history forever! Are you prepared for it?”Kekayi, who knew that Lord Rama was God, readily accepted the Will of the Lord for the salvation of mankind.“Rama Vijaya iss men naheen thhee ke Ravana ko maar diyaa. Rama vijaya iss men thhee ke Hanumanji Lanka men gaye, magar Ravana ke naheen bane!“The victory of Lord Rama did not consist in his killing Ravana. The victory of Lord Rama lay in the fact that even though Hanuman went to the court of Ravana he did not become Ravana’s!”Shri Nathji had illustrated a vital truth with these words. Ravana signified wealth and power. When Hanuman went to the court of Ravana for the first time, his eyes met with a dazzling array of gold and wealth and power the likes of which he had never seen before in the forests where he had lived all his life. “Ravana ne sone ki Lanka se aasakti ki aur Rama kaa virodh kiyaa–magar nateejaa kyaa huaa? Rama bhee gaye aur Lanka bhee gayi!“Ravana became attached to his golden Lanka and opposed Rama–but what was the result? He lost both, Rama as well as Lanka!”“Vibheeshan ne Lanka kaa tyaag kiyaa aur Rama ki sharan lee–nateejaa kyaa hua? Usse Rama bhee mil gaye aur Lanke bhee!“Vibheeshana, the brother of Ravana, gave up Lanka and took refuge in Rama–and what was the result? He gained Rama as well as Lanka!“The same Lanka which had been so dreadful under Ravana then became such a beautiful place with Vibheeshan as its king!Shri Nathji had often said: “Maine peeri aur ameeri dono aapko deni hai! Paihle peeri deni hai, baad men ameeri.“ I have emptied your hearts of the desire for kingdoms. Why should you run after kingdoms? Kingdoms should run after you!”“Gadaa kooye turraa maile baadshaahi nest“The beggar of Thy lane, desires not a kingship,Shri Nathji would express the other salient features of the Ramayana in the words below:“Hanuman could leap across the ocean by uttering the name of Rama! If the name of Rama possessed such power, one can imagine how much strength Rama himself possessed! Why, then, did he assume such a helpless state that he required a bridge to go across to Lanka? He did this so that those who helped construct the bridge would gain salvation! It was only through this divine service that they could attain the unattainable!Shri Nathji disclosed what Rama had said to Kewat in return:“Suno Kewat, agar maine tumhen paar naa karnaa hotaa to kabhi tumhaari naav men naa baitthtaa!“Listen, Kewat, if I were not to take you across the Bhav Saagar I would never have sat in your boat!”Shri Nathji would say: “Why did Rama choose the boat of Kewat? He could have chosen anyone else’s boat!“Bhagwan ko swaiyam asmarthh bannnaa parrtaa hai bhakton se sewaa lene ke liye!
