Ramesh Sharma has the habit of leaving at around 10 p.m. every night. After he has gone, Priya Nath gives a scanty dinner to Shri Nathji. He remembers that he has to record the new ghazal that Shri Nathji has written. “Main bilkul ttheek hoon! Aap jaao aurIt is late in the night, past midnight, when Priya Nath records the ghazal, trying to copy the tune in which Shri Nathji had sung the ghazal himself.“Wah! Piyaji! Kamaal kar diyaa!”When Priya Nath tells him it is the same tune in which Shri Nathji had sung the ghazal, Shri Nathji says:“Mujhe to gaanaa kahaan aataa hai! Main to ek hee tune men saari ghazalen gaataa hoon! Asli gaanaa to aapkaa hai!“I don’t know how to sing. I sing all the ghazals in the same tune! Only you can really sing!”Shri Nathji retires for the night after reading a few pages of the Reader’s Digest. Priya Nath is always fascinated by the sight of Shri Nathji reading the Reader’s Digest or any other magazine or newspaper. It shows that, despite his divinity and his illness, Shri Nathji is very interested in the world around him.
