After March 14, 1989, there is a period of ill health again for Shri Nathji, and simultaneous trouble at Mussoorie. “These miscreants also strike at the same time as your illness!”Shri Nathji dismisses Priya Nath’s worry with the telling remark:“Itne parrhe likhe hokar bhee aisee cheezon men aap vishvaas karte ho!“How can such an educated person like you believe in such things!”Shri Nathji had always said:“Babaji kahaa karte thee main jaadoo toone men vishvaas naheen kartaa! Agar ye sachh hote to saari duniyaan tabaah ho gayi hoti!Shri Nathji, however, added that material possessions did increase the problems of man, and if they destroyed his peace of mind they were of no use, – using another of Babaji’s sayings, this time in Punjabi:“Bhatt-khaaye sonaa jerraa kannaa noo khaave”“Of what use the gold ear-ring which hurts the ear!”When Shri Nathji sees the agony Priya Nath is undergoing in protecting the Mussoorie property, he even suggests disposing it off– at a time when people were thinking of making it into a shrine, a place of pilgrimage. Shri Nathji was even willing to wipe out all traces of his existence on the planet earth, just to please Priya Nath and to free him of strain.“We must now safeguard that property even if we have to fight!”Priya Nath admired Shri Nathji’s courage and resolve to fight even at his age of 86, though surrounded by grave illnesses. He would often think of those early days in the 1940’s when Mahamateshwari and Shri Nathji had left their Dehra Dun house because they could not tolerate the vicious atmosphere created there by Shri Nathji’s younger brother, Prem Nath, and his wife and in-laws. Mahamateshwari was always distressed by Shri Nathji’s reticence to fight against the evil in that house, and often said;“Mere bete badlaa legen!Alas, Pran Nath and Priya Nath were too young at that time and so the property had been lost to the usurpers. Priya Nath could not allow the same thing to happen to the sacred house of Mahamateshwari at Mussoorie, and he had decided to go on fighting, for as long as Shri Nathji remained well.“At the time of the Mahabharata, Lord Krishna drove the chariot of Arjuna in the battlefield. I have come to change the situation. Let Arjuna sit in front now, and Lord Krishna be behind him, so that whenever Arjuna’s resolve weakens, Lord Krishna will shake him by the shoulder and say: ‘Why fear, when I am behind your back?’“Jab Arjuna ghabraye to zaraa sa uskaa kandhaa Bhagwan hilaaden ke main tumhaare saath hoon!”Shri Nathji would often say these words to his devotees to remind them that he was with them in the battle for survival in the world. As Shri Nathji would say again and again.“Ik dam bhee dil se door na hone de too usse,“Separate him not from thy heart for even a moment, Shri Nathji blesses two devotees who are sent to Mussoorie, with the words:“Jis kaam par aap jaa rahe hain, uss sevaa ki“The service with which you are entrusted carries a large salary.”Shri Nathji again tells Priya Nath:“We must take things casually, without worry. Think of the litigation as a matter of interest!”Shri Nathji is frequently taking ‘
