Priya Nath telephones Dr. (Col) Chopra’s team for the result of the report, and a doctor on the line says, cryptically:“We were able to see many things in the Holter report. Maharajji has the sick sinus syndrome –for which a Pacemaker will have to be placed in the heart. It will require 10-12 days of hospitalization. Come over and discuss the matter with me. It is vital for survival!”Priya Nath is so dreadfully shocked that he cannot utter a word for a few minutes. He doesn’t know how to break the news to Shri Nathji, who has been feeling very good the whole day long and is in a cheerful mood, drinking 100 cc of Pepsi-Cola and feeling better and better, – he even walks 50 rounds in the big room with ease and great speed and energy, without the slightest bit of fatigue.“I am feeling all right. There are no dizzy spells. The doctor has misunderstood the symptoms. A Pacemaker is out of the question at my age!”The Holter Report had showed only 9 pauses in contrast to the earlier one, which had shown 48 pauses of the heart.“Kyaa“Why a pacemaker! Everything is all right. I am walking around, moving about, eating well, drinking well. What is the trouble that a Pacemaker should be placed?”As always, Shri Nathji was right. When other doctors, which included Dr. Umesh Gupta, Dr. P.K. Khanana of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Dr. Ravi Saxena saw the Holter report and saw Shri Nathji’s general good health, they all came to the conclusion that the analyzer had mis-interpreted the Holter Report or was probably over-cautious – and there was no need for a Pacemaker at all! “O LORD BE THOU THE PACEMAKER OF PITAJI’S HEART!”The doctor, who sent the Holter Report, insists over the telephone:“A Pacemaker will give him a fresh lease of life for another ten years at least!”Priya Nath is worried and goes and tells Shri Nathji what the doctor has said:“Das Saal! Kaih do unhen mainen 120 saal jeena hai binaa unke“Ten years! Tell them I will live for 120 years without their pacemaker!”Dr. Umesh Gupta advises stopping Dilzem altogether, which would remove the pauses, and replacing it gradually with Depin, to correct the Silent Ischemia as well.
