For some reason, even though all the doctors are full of praise for Dilzem, Shri Nathji is suspicious about the medicine and says:“Koyi bhee galat goli le lee to hameshaan ke liye nuksaan kar degee!“Any wrong tablet can do untold damage permanently!”It turned out that Shri Nathji’s doubts about the medicine were not without foundation. The months that followed showed that even though Dilzem had initially benefited the heart, it played havoc later, – it had led to dangerous pauses in the pulse for which the doctors began advising insertion of an emergency pace-maker inside the heart. However the situation was saved when the drug was ultimately withdrawn in October 1991.
