Shri Nathji’s watch strap is broken from over-use, and he asks Mangla to sew it. It is the one he had purchased from Cooke and Kelvey at Janpath during those days when he used to go out to the city in a taxi. Priya Nath looks back at those days with sadness, and wonders whether they will ever come again. If the watch-strap had broken during those days, Shri Nathji would have used it as an excuse for an “outing” to Connaught Place, his favourite spot in New Delhi.
