On Friday, March 13, 1992, Shri Nathji and Priya Nath receive the sad news that Shri Sahadeva Tayal has passed away in his home town, Hissar. “Aarzooe zindagi hai Nath teri chaakari“My life’s desire is only to serve Thee, O Nath!”Shri Nathji frequently used to narrate Sahadeva’s devotion and loyalty. When in 1943, Shri Nathji was recovering from an arm operation and living in Dilaram Estate at Mussoorie, Sahadeva was attending upon Him.“Main jab bhee aavaaz detaa raat ko, ‘Sahadevji!’ vaih ussee vakt bolte ‘Jee Huzoor’. “Whenever I called out: ‘Sahadevji’ in the night, he would immediately respond with a ‘Shri Nathji quoted the above incident showing man’s unswerving devotion to God and his readiness to serve at any moment, his willingness to stay awake always for the sake of God.“Chal andar!Indeed, when God became angry with His children it was only to draw them closer to Himself.“Huzoor, Bedu ki jaan le lo, magar Priya Nathji ko ttheek kar doThereafter, a miracle had occurred and Priya Nath had recovered. Sahadev’son Bedu also remained perfectly well. The incident had revealed the extent of Sahadeva’s devotion.“Teraa yaar aa reyaa hai“Your friend is arriving!”Sahadev would also narrate that whenever he laughed too much, Shri Babaji Maharaj would say to him:“Naa, naa, betaa! Ainaa naeen hansnaa chaaeeda– pher unnaa hi ronaa payegaa!“No, no, Son! Don’t laugh so much! Or else you will have to cry an equal amount!”Sahadev used to say:“Shri Nathji once told me that he had made me one year younger than Him so that I would always feel young!”Sahadev was the grandson “Sahadevji, raihmat iss tarah hoti hai!”“Sahadevji! Divine Grace comes in a moment, just like this!” Priya Nath had specially loved Sahadeva and was very sad at his going.
