There are visitors again after the 7th of October and Shri Nathji goes on meeting them as if nothing unusual was going to happen. He appears to have forgotten all about the Hospital.Shakuntala, the old devotee of Shri Nathji whose life had become a constant meditation upon him, and who knew of no other God, also came for Shri Nathji’s darshan before she left for Dalhousie. Shri Nathji blessed her. She was old and sick and she wondered whether she would come back from Dalhousie to see Shri Nathji again. “Bas aap aa gaye, ab to bilkul thheek hoon!I am feeling perfectly well because of your coming!” And, indeed, a radiance would light up his face and a happiness come over him whenever any visitor came for his darshan. This was to be so all his life because he existed only for the humanity around him, to give people his love and blessings.“Unke aa jaaane se chehre pe aa jaati hai jo raunak“His coming does fill the face with such great cheer,On the 8th of October 1981, news comes that Kasturilal, the beloved devotee of Shri Nathji, has left the world. Shri Nathji is somewhat saddened by his physical departure but says: “Vo kyaa le gayaa apne saath? Bas issee naam ko!“What did he take with him? Only this name!” Kasturilal’s bhajans had become legend. The one sung most often amongst the devotees was:Ai Nathji tumhaare dar kaa hoon main bhikaariO Nathji, I come as a beggar at Thy door,And Kasturilal’s verses:Kyaa main kahoon Nath kyaa mere tum hoHow shall I describe Thee, O Nath?Nibhaayaa kisee ne bhi na saath meraaNo one remained by my side in life,Shri Nathji had opened the doors of his Kingdom in Heaven for Kasturilal. He had been set free of the bondage of the flesh and given the eternal bliss of the ages. He was in Heaven now with his God, Shri Nathji, who was present there as well, in another form, as the Lord of the Heavens and the Earth. It was his promise to take all those who believed in him to Himself. “Charrho jinne paar langanaa saade Nathji ne jahaaz banaaya”“Come all who will, Shri Nathji has built a ship to carry us across”It was a ship that carried mankind across the waters of life and death. Shri Nathji was the pilot of the ship. He would remain in the Bhav Saagar–either in his visible or invisible form–until the last man was across.
