Nathji had a very different kind of relationship with the rich. He never asked them for any sewa, but rather met them on an equal footing. “Dalmia, meri sewaa itnee sasti naheen ke har ek ko dee jaaye. Ye maine apne khaas bhakton ke liye rakhi hai!“Dalmia, not everyone can be given the chance to serve me. I have kept it in reserve for my special devotees.”Shri Nathji had not taken any sewa of any kind from Ghanshyam Das Birla, another famed industrialist of the country, who had met him at Mussoorie, nor from Sir Sriram the famous business magnate of Delhi, nor indeed from any wealthy millionaire or Nawab, or Raja or Maharaja. When Shri Nathji was in America he had met one of the richest millionaires of the land, a certain Dr. Kean, and had said to him:This was the reply that Shri Babaji Maharaj had given to Maharaja Pratap Singh of Jammu and Kashmir, when he had come for his darshan, and when Shri Babaji Maharaj had added: “Of what worth would all the medicines of the world be if there were no disease in the body? Similarity of what worth would the riches of the world be if one had no desires within him?”Shri Nathji often said:“Hamaaraa khaandaan raajsi khaandaan ki tarah thhaa. Issee liye hamaari “My family background is that of royalty, which is why my habits are like that. Priya Nathji often says that if he had crores he would distribute them in the streets!”“I do not ask anything from anyone, and certainly not from the rich. But I will not refuse the offerings of Love of the genuinely poor at heart!”Shri Bhutt had once come to see Shri Nathji at Patel Nagar in Delhi in 1950, and had placed an envelope containing a sewa of four hundred rupees. Shri Nathji had declined to accept it. Shri Bhutt Sahib had immediately stood up and said:“Agar aapne sewaa hee naheen leni to maine jee kar kyaa karnaa hai!”These words of Bhutt had become legend.“Prabhuji, aapkaa aur hamaaraa to Rama aur Kewat kaa rishtaa hai!”“My relationship with you is like that of Kewat with Lord Rama!” Kewat had carried Lord Rama across the river in his boat, and, in return, had asked that Lord Rama carry him across the waters of the Bhav Saagar, the Ocean of Life and Death.
