Professor Wali Muhammad had a friend in Mussoorie who was known as Istafa Khan. The man was a philosopher and a poet in his own right.  A haughty and difficult man to be brought under spiritual control. Although he was a Haaji-one who had gone on the holy pilgrimage yet he was a materialist and a reveller in the delights of the world. He had been to Europe several times.
Istafa Khan was a wonderful skater. He would spin around on a small table, much to the delight of his elite European friends and acquaintances.  And yet, deep down within him there was a spiritual thirst.  This often found expression in his poetry. His spiritual teacher- peer- had a great regard for Shri Nathji and often complained of the bigoted attitude of Istafa Khan, and of his inability to get along with people.
