“It is wrong for people to be miserly when making an offering to God. They stop their own progress by doing this. Think of a man with five seeds in his pocket. He sees a patch of fertile land and wishes to plant the seeds there. However he becomes miserly when giving his seeds to the ground. He keeps four seed in his pocket while he gives one to the ground.
“Later, he finds that the four seeds he had kept in his pocket have wasted away, while the seed he had sown in the ground has brought forth a beautiful tree! He rues the fact that he had not sown all the five seeds in the ground. His harvest would have been five times greater! And the seeds that he sought to save in his pocket gave him nothing at all – they simply rotted away.”
