Shri Nathji frequently warned people of the evil tendencies lurking within their minds. He would relate the words of a great Mahatma who was asked:
Mahatmaji, is your Shaitan-Satan, still alive within you? Kyaa aapkaa shaitaan zindaa hai?”
The Mahatma said: Every time I think of him, I shudder with fear and run a fever. Mujhe to maare dar ke bukhaar charrhaa raihtaa hai!
“For, if I were to slip and fall from this height, the hurt would be very great. Those who fall from lesser heights sustain lesser injuries! So, I must be a million-fold more cautious!
The man then asked the mahatma: “Mahatmaji, vo aap par kabhi vaar bhi kartaa hai? Does he ever attack you?”
“No,” said the Mahatma, “he cannot do that! I remain within the circle of light of my Lord! Satan tries to tempt me to come out of that circle, but I tell him: ‘I am not allowed to go out. Mujhe baahar aane ki ijaazat naheen!’
“And I say to him: ‘Why don’t you enter within?’ And he replies: ‘I am not allowed to come in! Mujhe andar aane ki ijaazat naheen!’”
Indeed the opposition of God to Satan is like the opposition of Light to Darkness. Where Light exists Darkness cannot enter. Where there is God the evil tendencies of man cannot enter and are kept at bay.
