Mateshwari would also be seen telling Shri Nathji and the boys to not to study till late in the nights, as it would affect their eyes. She herself had suffered from overwork and bad eyesight when she was in College at Lahore, and knew how important it was to not to strain the eyes.
While the children would be immersed in doing their homework and preparing for tests and examinations, Shri Nathji would be seen writing page after page on sheets of paper or registers or notebooks, with a pen that was filled with faded light blue ink. There were even times when he used a pencil.
When the divine inspiration came upon him he picked up any paper or pen that he could find and began writing straight away at any time of the day or night. Mussoorie was the one place where he found the time that he needed to write down his precious divine revelations on paper so that they would be preserved for posterity.
Mateshwari would sometimes forcibly shut the lights off so that Shri Nathji and the boys could go to sleep and not strain their eyes. She would say in Punjabi: “Bas karo akkhaan kharaab ho jaangee! Stop or the eyes will be affected!”
