There was a certain Shri B.D. Meattle, who was a renowned industrialist of Bombay, and was reputed to be a crorepati. His summer home at Mussoorie situated on the Camel’s Back Road was designed by an Italian architect and had roofs made of expensive aluminium sheets. He had a German Homeopathic physician constantly in attendance upon him, as also a retinue of servants who accompanied him each time he walked on the Mall Road with his Alsatian dogs. The people of Mussoorie held him in awe. Even Maharaja Sarila would laud the man’s wealth and say to him: “Sethji you have so much money that you should have placed sheets made of gold on your roof instead of aluminium.”
