These are the days when Mangla is still doing the cooking, since the servant has been discharged. Mangla is suffering from acute rheumatic pains and fever as she cooks for Shri Nathji and Priya Nath. “Time will come when people shall recall the service Mangla did for me in her sickness. Her name will go down in History. Service done in suffering carries a far greater reward in the eyes of God than service done in congenial circumstances.”Shri Nathji often spoke of Justice Nanavati who came up a steep mountain slope in Mussoorie for Shri Nathji’s darshan, even through his leg was in a plaster and had been recently operated upon, and Shri Nathji said to him:“The fruit of this pilgrimage done in suffering is of greater worth than several pilgrimages done in good health!”However, even though service done in suffering was dear to God, Shri Nathji frequently sympathized with those who endured such suffering:“Even Christ, at one point, could not bear the terrible pain of crucifixion and had to say: ‘Father the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak,’– and – ‘If it be possible let this cup pass away.’”
