On October 22, 1989 Shri Nathji awakens suddenly at 4 a.m. and dictates a beautiful ghazal to Priya Nath, which he puts to tune later at noon, and which begins with the very meaningful words:“Hain kishtiyaan hazaar saahil to ek hee hai,Though a thousand boats there may be, there is but one shore,Priya Nath recollects how years ago at Lahore, Shri Nathji had woken up at 2 a.m. in the darkness and called his devotee Shri Ram Gopal Mehra, to his room, and had asked him to note down a verse he had composed just then.
