Shri Nathji tells the fascinating parable of the Ruby Sellers which reveals what Price man has to give in order to secure God. Before the parable, Shri Nathji makes several important pronouncements:“Usskaa bhai bhee rakhnaa hai!“One must fear the Lord, also!“Sharanam! Shri Nathjo Sharanam!“Take Refuge! Take Refuge in Nath!“AAJ JO AAYAA HAI VO POORNA BRAHM NISHKALANK AVATAR HAI.“He who has come now is Nishkalank Poorna Brahm Avatar – the blemishless, Avatar of the Creator in all His fulness.”“Agar yahaan satya hai to aapko milegaa. Agar yahaan satya naheen to aapkaa vishwaas aapko satya bankar phal degaa.“If there is truth here, you shall obtain it. If there is no truth here, your own Faith will assume the form of Truth and reward you.Rang laagat, laagat, laagat hai“As your Faith goes on rising, “Jo gayaa vahaan hi rahaa–aur usskaa aanaa rahe!“He who reached God, remained there – and never returned!“NATH NAAM TO PURAANA NAAM HAI – NATH KA MATLAB, MAALIK.“The name of ‘Nath’ is a very old name. ‘Nath’ means Master.“One must ever be ready to sacrifice one’s Ego for the sake of God.“Main baithhaa hoon! Jab tak kissee ko bhee meri zaroorat hai, mujhe jaane ki zaroorat naheen!“I shall stay on in this world! For as long as anyone has need of me, I have no need to go!“Daur men saaghar rahe, gardish men paimaana rahe,“May the cup of Divine Intoxication be ever on the move,“Give me your good wishes, so that I may remain well, so that I may go on distributing my Divine Wealth, and so that I may take you all with me to see the Glory of God spread all over the world.A group of Ruby sellers arrived in a city. A young girl learnt of their arrival, even as her friends told her about them:“O Faithless Girl! Why did you go to buy them? All those who went before you paid for them with their heads! The Ruby, God, is still too cheap!”The sacrifice of the ‘ego’ was necessary if one was to attain God-Realisation. It was this ‘life’ or this ‘head’ that was the price of God. The parable illustrated the fact that many walked along the path, but gave up when sacrifices were called for.The Parable of Yusuf:Yusuf was said to be one of the handsomest prophets of his time. His Beauty was Divine. It was said that two thirds of the Beauty in the Universe had been bestowed upon him, and the remaining one third was given to the Universe. Yusuf had offered himself for sale as a Slave. Some of the richest queens in the land had come to bid for him. Even the Queen of Egypt, Misr ki Raani, had brought her jewels – but had failed to buy Yusuf, so high was his price.“Agarche main Yusuf ko khareed naheen sakti thhee, magar main chaahati thhee ke meraa naam to khareed daaron men likhaa jaaye!”“Even though I could not purchase Yusuf, I wanted my name to be included amongst those who had come to purchase him!”Indeed man may not have the means to reach God – but the desire to reach Him should always be present. The True Story of Bhutt’s ConversionShri Nathji recounted how Shri G.P. Bhutt, who was later to become the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh, had been converted in the 1930’s when he first met Shri Nathji. “Main Bhagwan men tab maanoongaa jab mujhe koyi chamatkaar dikhaayegaa!”“I shall believe in God only when someone shows a miracle to me!”His meeting with Shri Nathji at Chittagong was at first a great disappointment. He did not even prostrate before Shri Nathji, as others were doing, and said, in a somewhat terse tone, that he had come to take his wife and son back home, and had booked the train ticket for the next day.“Bhutt Sahib, jo log mujhe nafrat karte hain, main unhen aur zyaadaa muhabbat kartaa hoon!“Bhutt Sahib! I have more love for those who hate me!”And saying this, Shri Nathji embraced Bhutt. “Ye mera praashchit hai!”“This is my repentance!”Later when people asked Shri Bhutt what miracle Shri Nathji had shown him to convert him so, he said:“Bin chamatkaar dikhaaye chamatkaar dekhne ki ichhaa hi chheen lee!“Without showing any miracle to me, he took away the desire for miracles from me!”Miracles began happening in the life of Bhutt. He rose in worldly status till he became the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Right up to the last moments of his life, he remained devoted to Shri Nathji, and, was, indeed, the foremost of Shri Nathji’s devotees.“I want you to show the world how you can derive as much happiness in your work as mahatmas derive in their meditation.” And that was exactly what transpired. Bhutt said later to Shri Nathji:“Now when I sit and write my judgements my heart is filled with a calm which, perhaps, mahatmas cannot get even in their meditations!Bhutt continued:“Before I met you, my life was like that of any other person. The boat of my life remained calm when the ocean was calm, but was restless when the ocean was rough. After meeting you – no matter whether the ocean is calm or rough – the boat of my life remains calm – for I can see you as its pilot!”Shri Nathji had often said:“AANE DO INN TOOFAANON KO TAAKE AAPKO APNE MALLAAH KI TAAKAT KA PATAA CHALE!“Let the storms come so that you may know of the strength of the pilot of your boat.
