Tuesday brings news of death. There is a postcard from Chaman Lal Khosla of Hoshiarpur informing Shri Nathji of the passing away of Roshan Lal Khosla, Chaman Lal’s brother. He had bouts of insanity on many occasions but had always remained staunch in his devotion to Shri Nathji. Whenever he ran away from his home in Chandigarh in a fit of insanity, he would come straight to Shri Nathji’s house – and become miraculously calmed.“Bhagwan teen logon ko jaldi mil jaate hain – bachhon, auraton aur paagalon ko!“God reveals Himself more readily to three categories of persons – children, women, and madmen!”He had explained that this was because all three of them had hearts that were relatively pure.“Paagal ka asli arthh huaa ‘paa’ plus ‘gal’ – jo bhed ko samajh gayaa ho!“The real meaning of the word Shri Nathji had spoken about the sane and the insane in a light vein:“Today we call a person insane because he runs around aimlessly and sometimes shouts and resorts to a little violence – like casting a stone. But what about the ‘sane’ persons in the world who, with all their faculties at their command, indulge in wars, persecutions, and amassing of nuclear weapons that can wipe out millions? Who is sane and who is insane – it is hard to say.
