Kamla had desired only one thing of Shri Nathji some years before: The husband that I get, must be your devotee!
She had seen the unhappiness in marriage that came about when husband and wife differed on the matter of faith. Kamla had had the good fortune of serving Mahamateshwari with her hands in 1963. When she met Shri Nathji again, after his return from London, she introduced her husband to him. Navneet Lal Talwar was even ahead of his wife in his devotion to Shri Nathji.
Though many trials and tribulations came their way, the life-sustaining faith they had in Shri Nathji, took them through sorrows and sufferings without a care.
There was a time when Shri Navneet Lal Talwar, the husband of Kamla Talwar, was transferred to a village area outside of Delhi due to the vindictive action of some of his associates. He was a Sanitary Inspector at the time. Since his home was in Delhi, the transfer created no end of problems for him. He came to Shri Nathji and narrated his problem.
Shri Nathji immediately gave him a task to accomplish, to carry several hundred of his books to Mussoorie, from Delhi. The task was difficult, and was complicated further by bad weather. But Mr. Talwar accomplished it, despite the numerous difficulties that came his way, like thundershowers and a storm.
He returned to Delhi only to find transfer orders to the heart of the city.
Until you serve God with your own hands, spiritual knowledge will not bear fruit in itself, Shri Nathji used to say.
