When Shri Bhutt was in Lahore with Shri Nathji, he had taken leave from the court and his leave was expiring.
I have to open the court tomorrow, Shri Bhutt said to Shri Nathji.
But I have need for you tomorrow, Shri Nathji said to him.
In that case, I won’t attend court, said Shri Bhutt, if you need me, I won’t go.
But you are in charge, said Shri Nathji, if you don’t open the court, who will?
And Bhutt said: Prabhuji – I am serving you indirectly by performing my duties in court. But if you need my services directly, it is my good fortune. I will resign from my job and come at your feet!
Shri Nathji was greatly pleased with Bhutt Sahib’s resolve. He had merely been testing his faith. He smiled and said:
Bhutt Sahib, go and do your duties in the world! At present I do not need your services. When I do, I shall send for you!
