There was the time when Khanna was returning from office when he saw some beautiful flowers in the garden of a house alongside the road. The flowers were the colour of Shri Nathji’s turban– orange. Khanna went inside the house and immediately purchased two flower pots from the gardener there. Minutes later he had placed them upon his shoulders and was walking down the street, with one flower pot on either shoulder, over his elegant three-piece suit.
It was an unusual sight for the people of Lucknow to see R.R. Khanna, Registrar of the Lucknow University, dressed in a three- piece western suit, walking down the street with a flower pot on either shoulder.
Khanna brought the flowers to Shri Nathji and say: Huzoor, do you like them? I brought them especially for you!
And Shri Nathji replied: Yes, the flowers are beautiful!
And I? Khanna asked.
It is you who are really beautiful! Shri Nathji said, the flowers are secondary!
Shri Nathji’s relationships with his devotees were full of deep and rich emotions. Shri Nathji was the Eternal Beloved, God, and all the devotees were like his lovers.
