From New Delhi, Shri Nathji along with Pran Nath and Priya Nath, Sri Krishen Khanna, and Rajinder Kumar Kohli, took a train for Haridwar, carrying Mateshwari’s ashes with them for immersion in the waters of the Ganges.
For long now, Shri Nathji had been away from India. The familiar sight of the poor and ragged in the streets and railway platform, brought back to his mind the verse:

“Khastaahaali kaa gilaa apnaa naheen karte hain vo
Teri hee ulfat kaa bas duniyaan men dam bharten hain vo

They voice not a complaint of their poverty and woes
On the sighs of their love for Thee they live in the world.

Here were the poor children of God, biding their time on His earth, living on the faith He had given them to survive upon.
On the banks of the Ganges of Hardwar, Shri Nathji performed the last rites of Mateshwari. It had been her desire to return to her homeland before she passed away. It could be fulfilled only in Death.
As the ashes of Mateshwari mingled with the waters of the flowing Ganga, Shri Nathji shut his eyes and went into a deep meditation. He raised his hand and blessed the mighty river, whose might had become all the more great, because Mateshwari had entered into its waters.
As the Ganges carried her sacred ashes away, the notes of her song could be heard coming from the swirling current of the waters, and, indeed, from each and every particle of Nature itself:
Prabhu mere sharan teri main aayaa..”
Mateshwari had at last become a part of the land she had loved.
