Shri Nathji finally reached Delhi on the 3rd of May 1949. He stayed with Vaid Raj Sudhanwa for two days and then prepared to leave for Mussoorie on May 5, 1949.
A bill from the service station noted: “Car Serviced” for Swami Bhola Nath, 37 Lady Hardinge Road. Dated May 5, 1949. Apparently the oil had been checked and petrol put in the car.
Shakuntala Mehra could not bear the thought of Shri Nathji travelling alone by car on the roads, which had become notorious for highway robbers. She said to Victor in Punjabi: “Victor ainnee keemti jaanaan kyon marvaandaan hain! Victor why are you risking such precious lives!”
However Shri Nathji and his family, along with Parmeshwari Das and Victor at the wheel made their way without mishap to Mussoorie by car.
