Shri Babaji Maharaj and Mata Saraswati Devi, along with Shri Nathji, had stayed on in Amritsar till 1934, and in 1935 had shifted to Lahore.
It was there, on the 13th of December 1940 that Shri Babaji Maharaj had left Mata Saraswati forever on the physical plane, and had entered within her as the Universal Soul.
After the physical passing away of Shri Babaji Maharaj, his spouse and spiritual consort, Mata Saraswati Devi, also known as Jagatmata, lived on for some years more, but remained always merged in the thought of Shri Babaji Maharaj.
At Lahore, she refused to leave the residence in which Shri Babaji Maharaj had left his physical frame, and would sit silently on the ground by the side of the bed on which Shri Babaji Maharaj had rested.
For her the consciousness of the world around her had come to a complete end. She was in her body for appearances’ sake only. Her soul rested in the Eternal Soul of Shri Babaji Maharaj.
She came and stayed with Shri Nathji at Dehra Dun and Mussoorie for a while, and thereafter returned to Lahore.
She had desired that she continue to reside in the house in which Shri Babaji Maharaj had lived, till the end of her days, but it was a rented house, and, ultimately, due to the betrayal of a devotee, Master Ram Nath, who colluded with the landlord and withheld the key of the house from her, she was forced to leave the place, and died of a broken heart soon thereafter.
When Shri Nathji, who was in Dehra Dun, had come to know of this, he was very angry with Master Ram Nath. The devotee would ever afterwards pull his ears and grovel in the dust before Shri Nathji, and beg to be forgiven for his serious crime whenever he met him.
