One night there is a serious constricting feeling in Shri Nathji’s chest, almost like a heart attack, which subsides promptly with half-a-tablet of the heart drug, Sorbitrate, kept under the tongue.“Aaj neend barri achhee aayee!”“I slept very well tonight!”Priya Nath admires Shri Nathji’s undaunted spirit and cheer in the midst of such an illness. “Real Spirituality lies in being happy in the midst of suffering. Anyone can be happy in the midst of favourable circumstances, but he who can endure suffering with happiness has truly attained great spiritual heights. When man takes sorrow and joy, both, as coming from God, and accepts His Will in both, he remains happy and content in both the states. Firstly, because he knows that God loves him, and secondly, because he knows that, whatever God sends, He sends for his betterment. Sometimes physical suffering is meant to increase the strength of the soul.” These words were of little comfort to Priya Nath. They were meant for ordinary human beings for whom Shri Nathji wished to act as an example.
