By 5.30 p.m., on the 23rd of June, 1988, Shri Nathji is ready to go to Sapru House for the World Prayer Day. Shri Nathji puts on his new light gray achkan and a golden yellow turban. The clothes are smartly tailored. Shri Nathji looks fabulously majestic as he and Priya Nath step out of the house and enter the car sent by Vijay Kapahi. A.C. Sharma sits in the front seat while Priya Nath and Shri Nathji sit in the back.“And even as every night must give place to day, and every Autumn turn to Spring, so it is the voice of my heart that the time is drawing close, when One God shall exist for all, and all shall be His children; Love shall be His worship, and the hearts of men shall know a never-ending Peace.”And then it is Shri Nathji’s turn to speak. As usual the powers of evil have their little satisfaction. The microphone given to Shri Nathji is defective and many parts of the speech become inaudible. “Baihare yak nazzaaraa bar dare ooShri Nathji had proved that God was He, who was beyond words, thoughts, and mind or the intellect, as written in the Hindu Scriptures:“Yato vaacho nivartante apraapya mansa sahaa”Shri Nathji had also proved that God was Sat-Chit-Anand–Truth, Consciousness and Bliss.“Labrez kar de Saaki saaghar tahi hamaaraaAnd then, there was Priya Nath singing Shri Nathji’s ghazals for the occasion, which came as heavenly melodies accompanying the Heavenly Glory of Shri Nathji sitting on the stage.(1)Duaa kaa aaj din aayaa huaa saaraa jahaan shaamil,(2)Tumhaaraa banke aayaa hoon na be-gaanaa mujhe samjho,(3)Mere maikhaanaye dil men koyi gham aa naheen saktaa,The one ghazal Priya Nath did not get time to sing was the most relevant one:“Nazar se iss jahaane gham ko Firdause bakaa kar de,Shri Nathji really loved this ghazal the most. And He had done what the ghazal depicted. In a single glance He had changed the whole world from one of sorrow to one of joy. Priya Nath ever afterwards regretted not having sung the ghazal. He realised then that he should have sung it at the start rather than wait to sing it after the first three ghazals.
