Shri Nathji is very particular about his white shawl – which he always drapes over his leg and knees in the functions–and wants it dry-cleaned. The shawl always accompanies Shri Nathji wherever he goes. “Sab garmi to bhakt nikaal lete hain! “The entire heat is taken away by the devotees!”Shri Nathji used to recollect the words of his late devotee, R.R.Khanna, who, used to say:“Duniyaan ki sab cheezen–dhan, daulat, status putr, pautra, chaahe logon ko baant den, magar charan mujhe de den! Bas ek hi cheez maangtaa hoon!”“You may give anything you like to others–wealth, status, children–but give me your feet. That is all I ask for!”And Shri Nathji would laughingly reply:“Barre chaalaak nikle! Charan hi pakarr lenge to main kahaan bhaag sakoonga!”“You are very clever! Once my feet are in your hands I will not be able to run away!”
