Shri Nathji used to narrate the story of Lord Krishna’s illness. Once Lord Krishna had a severe and unbearable headache and was groaning with the pain. His wife, Rukmini, was greatly distressed and wanted to know what she could do to alleviate the pain.“Apply the dust of your feet to my forehead and I shall be all right!”Rukmini was horrified: “The dust of my feet on your forehead! It will be a sin for which I will go to hell for a hundred thousand years! No! No! I can never commit such a sin! Tell me of some other remedy.”“Apply the dust of your feet to my forehead, and it will cure me. But Rukmini says it will mean going to hell for a hundred thousand years for the sin!”Radheji did not hesitate even for moment, and forthwith applied the dust of her feet to Lord Krishna’s head, saying:“Going to hell means nothing to me if it will remove your pain – which I cannot bear to see!”“Lord Krishna recovered instantly. He was merely testing the faith and devotion of Rukmini and Radheji.“Pain and suffering are Blessings in disguise – for they bring one closer to God; and with this closeness all pain and suffering disappear, leaving only the Bliss of God Realisation. Maharaja Sarila had once said to Shri Nathji:“I am constantly worried. I am also afraid of Death and what lies beyond.” And Shri Nathji had said to him:“Tell me, when you came into this world, and were a babe in the arms of your mother, why didn’t you worry at that time?”And the man said:“I was too young to understand anything then.”“Now that you have grown up and come to understand things – you are worrying about them. You are the same little babe who was without a care then – it is merely your ‘understanding’ that is making you worried now!“Aapki akl hee aapko tang kar rahi hai!“When you came into this world, God had provided for all your needs. You had parents to care for you. For your lungs there was air, for your eyes there was the Sun, for your hunger there was your mother’s milk. All your needs were provided for, even without your asking. “Zindagi kyaa hai?–Jo duniyaan ko dikhaati hai! Aur maut kyaa hai?–Jo Khudaa ko dikhaati hai!“What is Life? –That which reveals the world! And what is Death? – That which reveals God!”“Mau kyaa hai? Zindagi kaa ek khoobsoorti se doosri khoobsoorti men badal jaanaa.”“What is Death? The changing of Life from one beautiful form to another.
