As Dr. Ravi Saxena came and sat next to Pitaji’s bed, Pitaji involuntarily moved His neck to the left side where Dr. Saxena was sitting. He did this to look at the doctor and also to please him. “Aap kyaa peeyenge?“What would you like to drink?”It was the question I had dreaded most, because Pitaji did not wish to take any fluids, as he had told me, before the doctor arrived.“Jo aap chaahen!“Whatever you like!”After that Dr. Ravi Saxena placed a glass of water at Pitaji’s mouth and gently lifted the glass, allowing the water to go in. He gave a cup of coffee next. “Piyaji ham log lihaaz-lihaaz men hee maare jaate hain!“Piyaji we suffer because of our mild nature that does not make us say ‘No’ to anyone.”After the doctor had finished administering the fluids he touched Pitaji’s feet and left the room respectfully, not turning his back towards Pitaji.“Jab vo jaayen mujhe bataa denaa, Asheervaad dene hain!“When he goes, tell me, I have to bless him!”Pitaji said these words to me as if He could no longer see what was happening around Him.
