He had often said:“A mother has five sons. Four have returned. The fifth has yet to come home. She stays awake all night waiting for him, and even makes a cut on her finger lest she fall asleep. When the son arrives, far from rebuking him, she feeds him and loves him even more.”Shri Nathji also used to say:“A mother was going to a marriage party, and was wearing a very expensive saree. Just as she was about to leave, her son fell into a pond of mud. Her son had always been extremely troublesome. “Did she care about the party? Did she think the mud would dirty her saree? No. She didn’t even have time to think of all these things – nor did such thoughts enter her mind. The moment she saw her child fall, she ran to rescue him instinctively. Shri Nathji’s verse gave consolation to all:“Dostaan raa kujaa kuni maiharoom“How canst Thou desert Thy friendsSuch was the dear, Loving Heart of Pitaji, Shri Nathji, of God upon Earth, as revealed by Shri Nathji Himself.“Pray wherever you are,However, Shri Nathji’s slogan went even beyond that. Even if someone did not pray, or could not pray, Shri Nathji would be with him. He explained this in the following words:“There is a child who can call out to his mother for his needs, and the mother answers his calls. However, there is another child who is younger and who cannot even say ‘mother’. But the mother does not ignore the child. On the contrary she feels a greater degree of responsibility for the child – and attends to all his needs even without the child calling out to her.”
