There was a time in Jabalpur when certain Rotary Club friends of Shri G. P. Bhutt, then Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh, had assembled together and had begun a discussion on the spiritual disposition of their friend, Shri Bhutt.
Justice Bhutt says that the avatar of God has appeared on earth, and that he has had the privilege of knowing him, they said, surely there must be some quick means of verification?
One amongst them, who dabbled in metaphysics, immediately suggested the use of a planchet. This was a large plate of cardboard on which the English alphabet was printed in bold type. An empty glass, turned upside down, was kept on the board. People would keep their fingers on the top of the glass and ask questions of the board. If the atmosphere was solemn enough, a spirit would begin moving the glass over the letters of the alphabet, spelling out the answers.
These members of the club got together and performed such a seance. The questions and answers went as follows:
Is it true that God has come down to earth as an avatar?

Yes.

Has the avatar been born in India or abroad?

In India.

Where is he at this time?

In Allahabad.

What is his name?

Bhola Nathji.

Shri Nathji was in Allahabad at the time. These friends of Shri Bhutt came to him and narrated the above episode, and insisted that he take them with him to Allahabad. Shri Bhutt agreed, and few days later they arrived at Shri Nathji’s residence at Allahabad. The meeting effaced all doubts from their minds.
