As Shri Priya Nath composed the tune to the ghazal and played it before Shri Nathji, Shri Nathji went into a state of divine intoxication, his hands extended in a gesture of blessings and his body vibrating and swaying in his chair. Ye kyaa masti kaa aalam hai, naheen kuchh bhee yahaan baakiO what a world of intoxication is this, where nothing else exists,Naa duniyaan hai naa ukbaa hai, naa faani hai naa laafaaniThere is neither the world here, nor salvation itself, neither the perishable, nor the imperishableNaheen duniyaan ki baaten yaan, naheen baadaa parasti hai There is no talk of the world here, nor the drinking of wine,Naa gulshan hai naa bulbul hai, naa hai naghmaa saraaye abThere is neither the flower nor the nightingale here, nor the singers of songs,Naheen sholon ki bharmaaren ke jis men ab patange honThere are no sparks of fire now in which the moths exist,Naa gham ab hijr ka dil men naa milne ka tassavvur hai,There is neither the sorrow of separation, nor the yearning for union,Kahaan ki zindagi aur phir kahaan ki maut ki baatenOf what use the talk of life and the talk of death, Meri iss maikashi men ab, naa saaghar hai naa paimaanaIn my intoxication there is neither the cup nor the wine,Meri isss zaat men apni naa apna hai naa begaanaIn this existence of mine there is neither a friend nor a stranger,Man masti hoon, main hasti hoon, main khud ik noore vaahid hoon,I am intoxication itself, I am existence, I am the fullness of Glory,Tajalli hai tashaffi hai, ye hai anvaar kaa aalam,Here there is Light, there is Peace, this is the world of my Radiant Glory,For Shri Nathji this poem was in fact a description of His own Reality, the Highest Form of Spiritual Existence that could belong to God alone or to one who became merged in Him. It was the poem of the Creator in whose thought the Universe existed and vanished at the same time. Shri Nathji was so near in human form and yet so far in His Infinitude.“Meraa pragat hona aur chhupnaa kewal duniyaa ki nazaron men hai. Apne aap men to main na chhupaa hoon aur na pragat hoon!“My appearing before the world and my concealing myself, is meant only for the people of the world. In myself I am neither concealed nor revealed.”
