Shri Nathji would always say that, for a man who learns to thank God, God becomes a Reality. Thanksgiving becomes a higher form of worship than prayer.
When a man prays he is motivated by personal needs and selfish intent. If he receives an answer to his prayers his faith in God is re-enforced, but if he does not receive an answer to his prayers his faith begins to shake. Thus, while praying, there is an uncertainty about the existence of God.
But for one who thanks God there is no uncertainty about God because one can only thank someone who exists! For the one who thanks God, God is an ever-present Reality! Also there is no selfish intent in thanksgiving as there is in prayer. One does not ask anything from God but merely expresses his gratitude to God for all the good things that God has given him.
