Shri Nathji also gives worldly advice to Priya Nath telling him to be cautious of the people who live in the house with them. “Priyaji main to seedhaa thhaa hee, magar aap to mujhse bhee zyaade seedhe hain! Har ek par vishvaas kar lete hain!“Priyaji, I was innocent but you are even more innocent than me! You have a tendency to trust everybody!”Referring to the betrayal of Misra, who had been trusted blindly by Priya Nath, Shri Nathji says:“Piyaji, mujhe Khera kahaa kartaa thhaa ke kissee ko apnaa “Piyaji, Khera used to tell me that one must never divulge one’s weak point to another.”““Those who belong to the CID never even let their families know what they are doing.” “Kissee ne kissee ko kuchh karnaa ho to khaane men usse kuchh khilaa denaa sab se aasaan tareekaa hai!“The easiest way to harm a person is to put something in his food. This person could have worked in concert with our enemies and poisoned us! Such an attack would have led to regrets all our lives! He could even have made us invalid.”“Raje Maharajon ke khaanon ko paihle unke Vaid chakkhte thhe, baad men unn tak khaanaa aataa thhaa!“The Rajas and Maharajas would have their Vaids taste their food first, before allowing it to come to them.”“Mujhe yaad hai jab Mo Mussoorie men bahut beemaar raihne lagee to Justice Raghubar Daya“I remember when Mo used to fall ill in Mussoorie, the wife of Justice Raghubar Dayal would say to me: ‘Maharaj why does Mata fall so ill here–could there be anyone who is slow poisoning her?’”“Piyaji, shakiyaa aadmi ko kabhi ghar men naheen rakhnaa chahiye! “A doubtful person must never be kept in the house!”“Rasosiye aur Vaid se kabhi dushmani naheen karni chahiye!”“One must never make a foe of the household cook or the doctor!“Babaji kahaa karte thhe ke jab kissee par gussaa aaye to uski achhee baton ko yaad kar lenaa chahiye!“Babaji would say that when you are about to be angry with anyone, then just think of his good points!”“Piyaji, duniyaan men koyi shaks apni galti sunne ko tayyaar naheen“Piyaji, no person in the world is prepared to listen to his mistakes being pointed out!”“Kissee ki galti nikaalo to vo dushman ho jaataa hai!“If you point out the mistake of any person he becomes your enemy!”“Log beeseeyon saal apne manon men baat rakhte hain aur maukaa dhoondkar badlaa nikaalte hain!“People keep enemity stored within them for decades, and take revenge at the appropriate moment!”“Kissee ko zyaadaa kaihne se baat bigarr jaati hai!“If you say too much to anyone the matter gets out of hand!”“Agar kissee ko sewa barrhaane ko kaho to vo pichlee sewa bhee band kar detaa hai!“If you ask anyone to do more service than he is doing, he stops doing even the service he was doing!”“Duniyaan ke logon se bach-bach kar raihnaa chahiye! Kissee se zyaadaa ulajnaa naheen chahiye! Zindagi se keemti koyi cheez naheen hoti. Log to baat baat men chhuraa nikaal lete hain!“One must be wary of the people of the world. Never become too involved with them. There is nothing more precious than life. People are ready to knife others at the slightest pretext!”“Pitaji “Piyaji, one must take great care of the health. If once it is lost, it can never be recovered.”“Piyaji,“Piyaji, one must observe the laws of health. One does not feel anything while young, but later, these things take their toll.” Shri Nathji would often speak of ‘nazar’ the eye of envy, which could affect people gravely. Shri Nathji would frequently quote Shri Babaji Bhagwan who used to say:“Betaa, main jaadoo toone men to maantaa naheen, magar nazar zaroor lag jaati hai!“Son I do not believe in black magic, but the eye of envy-nazar is a reality.”Shri Nathji would also say:“Piyaji, kayiyon ki pathhar phaarr nazar hoti hai!“There are some people whose eye of envy can even shatter a rock!”Speaking of the diverse characteristics of human nature, Shri Nathji would also caution Priya Nath to not to accuse a man to his face, quoting the English proverb:“Call a man a thief and he will steal!”Shri Nathji had often related the story of Swami Dayanand, the founder of the Arya Samaj, who was poisoned by his own cook. When the Swami would complain of his deteriorating health to the cook, the man would say:Shri Nathji would also time and again quote the affectionate words of Justice Abbas Ali Tyyab of the Baroda High Court, who had become devoted to Shri Nathji in Mussoorie in 1935 and who would say:“Hazrat aap itne seedhe hain ke mujhe dar hai ke koyi zindagi men aapko barrraa bhaari dhokaa na de jaaye!“Hazrat, you are so good that I am afraid that some day someone may practice the greatest of deceits upon you!”Shri Nathji would refer to the Ramayana and say: “Ravana saadhu ke hee vesh men aayaa thhaa!Shri Nathji added:“Priyaji,“One must look upon people with a suspicious eye! “When Vibheeshana, the brother of Ravana, came with great devotion to Lord Rama, Laxman, the brother of Rama, would not at first allow him inside, saying that he was the brother of a foe! “Vedon men likhaa hai ke purush ka svabaav aur stree kaa charitra devi devtaa bhee naheen samajh sake hain!“It is written in the Vedas that the nature of a man and the character of a woman cannot be understood even by the gods and goddesses!”“Elsewhere, Guru Nanak has even gone so far as to say:“Lakh laahnat nek zanaan!Shri Nathji would speak of the Guru who was so disillusioned with the men at Amritsar that he even went so far as to say:“Ambarsarriye andarsarriye!However he was pleased with the women and said: Shri Nathji quotes from the 400 page book Shri Babaji Maharaj had written– the only book he ever wrote with his own hand in Urdu, giving worldly and spiritual advice to Maharaja Hira Singh of Nabha in 1912:
