There is some good news–Mata Tara Devi- the old devotee of Shri Nathji since the days of Lahore– is still alive, and about 111 years old! She is in Delhi with her daughter, Sheila Dhingra, but is bedridden. Shri Nathji is overjoyed to learn that the old lady is still alive. “Nathji, ttheek ho jaao, varnaa main mar jaavaangi! There was the time when she had fallen off a bus at her old age, but had gotten up from the ground of her own accord, unhurt. It was Shri Nathji’s miracle. She would always say to Shri Nathji:“Nathji, mere bachhe te moriyaan vich khelde see, tussi onaanoon mahalaan vich bitthaa dittaa hai!“Nathji, my children used to play in the gutters, but you have given them mansions to live in!”She would frequently say to Shri Nathji:“Nathji, this house does not suit your dignity. You must live in a palace!”There was the time in 1975 when an oil painting of Shri Nathji had arrived at the gate of the house when MataTara Devi was present. The sight of the painting was too much for her. She went into a trance and began chanting in a loud voice:“Mere Rabb di tasveer ban gayiOne of her last wishes had been that she be able to read Shri Nathji’s book, “Nath teraa bharaa rahe darbaarMay Thy darbaar remain ever filled”
