The month of June 1977 saw a divinely beautiful portrait of Shri Nathji appear in The Illustrated Weekly, which was then one of the leading magazines of India. Priya Nath had sent this beautiful portrait to the Magazine along with a write-up about Shri Nathji when they had been in Delhi before coming to Mussoorie. It was the same picture in a bust pose, in a turban and achkan, which been printed in “Mrityu Kaa Rahasya” and “The Secret if Death:” in 1974.
All who looked upon the photograph were instantly gripped by an overwhelming feeling of Love Divine. Here was a being the likes of which had never been seen in the world before. The absolute beauty and symmetry of his features, the innocence of his smile, the infinite depth of knowledge and power that existed in the eyes, and the imperial bearing and majesty of his personality and dress made people turn to look at the portrait again and again.
A great spiritual luminary of our time, a World Teacher, who calls himself, in all humility, Nath, Ghulam Rue Zameen–the Servant of the Earth,” said the magazine.
“His speeches and writings have brought home peace of mind to many. Never before have spiritual truths been unfolded with such power and beauty. The masterly pen of the author lays bare hidden secrets like they have never been revealed before.”
It was an advertisement for Shri Nathji’s book, The Secret of Death. The magazine was read by about as many as sixty-five lakh people in India and abroad. For the first time in Shri Nathji’s history, he had suffered publicity being given. Thousands now looked upon the Face of God. And yet it had not been openly declared in the magazine who he was. Shri Nathji always left it to the people to judge for themselves and to come to their own conclusions, from within the depths of their hearts and souls.
