A mahatma must never allow pride to enter within him, or this will separate him from God. A mahatma must be ever prepared to see God in his followers and to prostrate before them!
Let the mahatma learn to prostrate before others instead of having others prostrate before him all the time!
If a mahatma cannot see God in his followers and cannot bow before them then he is not a real mahatma.
A mahatma who desires a name, fame and a following is full of the desires of the world and can never hope to attain God. This is so because desires separate man from God. A real mahatma is one who desires nothing from God except God.
There was Shri Nathji’s warning in Hindi:
Main un mahatmaaon ko warn kartaa hoon jo apne aap ko pranaaam karvaanaa chaahate hain ke vo pranaam karnaa seekhen, pranaam karvaanaa mat seekhen!
“I warn those mahatmas who want others to prostrate before them that they must learn to prostrate before others rather than want others to prostrate before them!”
There was also Shri Nathji’s verse in Persian:
    Khilaafe tareekat bavad auliyaa
Ke tammannaaye az Khudaa juz Khudaa
It is against the nature of saints
To desire anything from God except God
