Shri Nathji continued to stay on in Mussoorie right up to June 1958 when the results of Priya Nath came out. Priya Nath had stood first in his college and had obtained a first division in the Inter-Science, also known as F.Sc., coming 15th in the merit list of the State of U.P. which was reported to have lakhs of students at the time.
The person who was most overjoyed at the results of Priya Nath was Shri Nathji. He again embraced Priya Nath and blessed him repeatedly for his success.
Thereafter Shri Nathji began making hectic efforts to get the boys admitted into Delhi University. Once again he painstakingly made handwritten copies of the boys’ mark sheets and school certificates, and got them attested, and posted to Delhi University. Even though Shri Nathji was not well-versed with the ways of the world, he wrote to Delhi University to accept the mark-sheets and academic records of the boys in lieu of the application forms, in case it took time to obtain the forms.
As always Shri Nathji was the Master of Logic, but apparently in the strictly bureaucratic atmosphere prevailing, mankind could not adapt to the simplifications suggested by Shri Nathji.
When there was no reply from Delhi University for a long time, Shri Nathji went down to Delhi himself for the second time and tried to see the Vice Chancellor of the Delhi University, Dr. V.K.R. Rao at his residence. Unfortunately the Vice Chancellor was ill at the time and so Shri Nathji could not get to see him.
Shri Nathji had also written to Dr. Raja Ram, principal of St. Stephen’s College at Delhi for the boys’ admission. However, Priya Nath was found to be too young for University admission and there was no place for Pran Nath. It appeared as if the hand of destiny was taking them elsewhere.
Shri Nathji then wrote to Justice Raghubar Dayal, who was a High Court Judge at Allahabad, for the boys’ admission at Allahabad University. He had already separately obtained the application forms from the University and these were filled out by the boys and sent to Allahabad.
It appeared as if Shri Nathji had nothing else to do in the world but to attend to the boys’ education at this point of time. He had even given up all writing work of his own to be fully absorbed in the boys’ admissions.
At last there was news that the boys had been granted admission to Allahabad University, which was amongst the most prestigious in the land during those days, when Delhi University itself was in the making.
A date was set for the 15th of July 1958 to reach Allahabad, so that the boys could join the classes that started in that month. Both the boys had received admission for their Bachelor’s Degree, B.Sc., in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Perhaps the prayers of the Allahabad devotees had to find fulfilment in this way. Whatever was transpiring was in accordance with the Divine Plan of Shri Nathji.
July 1958 was a very important date in Shri Nathji’s life. He would be leaving his beloved Mussoorie and would be adopting a completely different life-style.
Never again would he be staying at Musssorie for nine months of the year for the boys’ schooling and go down to the plains only for the winter vacations.
The roles of the hills and the plains were about to be reversed. Shri Nathji would now be living in the plains for the boys’ education for nine months of the year and would be coming to Mussoorie only for the three months of their summer vacations in May, June, and July.
As Shri Nathji stood at the window of the verandah of Savitri Nivas looking down at the valleys and mountains that spread out in all directions, a cool wind appeared to shake the trees. There was a note of sadness in the rustle of the leaves even as they trembled with the air moving past them. There were the monsoon clouds rolling down in the valleys, partially veiling the valley of Dehra Dun. A slight drizzle was in the breeze–Mussoorie shedding tears at the departure of Shri Nathji.
Mussoorie had become a part of Shri Nathji. He was known as “Bhole Mussoorie Vaale”, Bhola Nath of Mussoorie, amongst the devotees of Maharashtra.
Verily Shri Nathji was the heart and soul of Mussoorie. He could never leave it completely. It was like Lord Shankar stepping down from Mount Kailash for a while, knowing full well that his permanent abode would always be there.
