He was wearing a long gold chain around his neck, which had been given to him by Shri Babaji Maharaj at the time of his marriage. He took the chain off and asked Priya Nath to keep it in his coat pocket. Priya Nath had removed his coat at the time, and left it on the ground as he went to sprinkle a little water on himself along with Shri Nathji.
When the two of them returned, they discovered that someone had stolen Priya Nath’s coat along with the chain in it. The coat and the chain were never recovered. Shri Nathji always regretted the loss of the chain, which had been a token of affection from Shri Babaji Maharaj.
Shri Nathji had always worn the chain next to the skin, and used to say that gold was considered an auspicious metal, and that to lose gold was considered inauspicious.
“Isse next to skin pahennaa chaahiye, to shubh hoti hai.
“Sone kaa gum ho jaanaa ashubh maanaa jaataa hai!”
