Shri Nathji used to give the example of a goblet that had a cup sitting over its head.
Why don’t you fill me? the cup said, you are full, and I am empty!
I can’t, said the goblet, even though I exist only to fill others. For as long as you are sitting upon my head, my water cannot come to you. Come down, lower yourself, so that I can bend downwards and fill you!”
    Shri Nathji would often say:
“Until man humbles himself, he cannot receive the grace of God!
Shri Nathji was very fond of the verse below, which illustrated the relationship of man who comes like an empty cup before God:
Tahi daston kaa rutbaa aaihle daulat se zyaadaa hai
Suraahi sar ke bal jhukti hai jab paimaanaa aataa hai.
The worth of empty hands is greater than that of all of wealth,
The goblet must bow its head before an empty cup!
